Lunch & Learn: Preparing for the Nevaeh Youth Sports Safety Act

The image promotes a "Lunch & Learn" event, featuring a light bulb design with colorful gears, symbolizing ideas and growth.

If your agency offers youth sports, major new safety requirements are coming. Will you be ready?

Join CPRS D2 on October 15th to learn how the Nevaeh Youth Sports Safety Act will affect cities, recreation districts and other organizations offering youth athletic programs. Many agencies may not yet be fully prepared for the new requirements beginning January 1, 2027.

Attendees will learn what the law requires, how it applies to their agency and programs, and what equipment, training, policies and procedures should be put in place. The session will also provide practical resources to help agencies identify and obtain the equipment they may need to become compliant.

The session will be led by Joe Ellis, a high school teacher, an experienced white-water rafting guide, sudden cardiac arrest survivor and AED safety advocate. After his life was saved by the quick actions of a teammate using an AED, Joe began working to expand access to lifesaving equipment in parks and public recreation spaces throughout California and beyond.
